Search Function
Blogdimension proposes a search function that will help you to search the blogosphere more efficiently.
There are several ways to express a query in this version of Blogdimension:
By simple keywords
If you type in [word1 word2, etc.] Blogdimension retrieves in priority order all the sources (blogs, forums, news...) which contain a maximum of the requested terms. In this mode, the processing is based on a statistical analysis of the blogosphere contents.
By sets of words
If you type in a set of specific terms or a phrase like "world championship" Blogdimension retrieves only the contents including exactly the set of terms or the phrase you typed in.
This is the mode "full text" and you have to surround the requested terms by " " (quotes). Note that it is not Blogdimension that has created these terms – the exact content needs to already exist in the blogosphere, and then be indexed by our bot.
By excluding words
If you use the operator "-" (minus) you get results that do not contain the excluded word.
For example, if you search Laurel and you don't want the results that contain "Hardy" your query must be expressed as follows: Laurel -Hardy
Displaying the results
Blogdimension is constantly improving its algorithms and formulas to provide you with better results. In particular, users can sort the results in several ways:
- by freshness, i.e. the most recent: Blogdimension displays the results that match the query by freshness (from the most recent to the oldest);
- by relevance: relevance is based on a complex formula in which the number of words found in a document and the proximity of the words are taken into account. Each search engine has its own pertinence formula in order to maximise the matching of results;
- by a mix of relevance and freshness.
- Other criteria for sorting will be available (by authority, i.e. popularity, for example).
